Yeovil Squash Club was founded in 1974 through the perseverance of W.F. Knight, the bowls club chairman, who thought the provision of two squash courts might help to rescue the overall fortunes of the club. He arranged the finance and the construction work and within a year the two courts were built. In 1980 a third court was added because membership had reached the 300 level and there was a waiting list. In the 80s the club moved forward with a number of dynamic chairman including Andy Jilks and Mike Davis. In the 90s membership began to fall but has increased in recent years and currently stands at 125
